Supporting a City with Engineering
“When I think of Houston Engineering, I think competent and professional,” said
one client. “I’ve only had good projects working with them.”
The firm helped a Midwestern city to set up a ground control system. “Houston Engineering
was one of the first engineering firms to use GPS surveying technology,” said the client.
“They established the coordinate projection system for the city—matching the ground to the
map—which was somewhat controversial at the time. And they’ve continued to provide us with
ground control services as we’ve expanded the city.”
Over the years, Houston Engineering has also created extensive water models for analyzing
the storm sewer systems. “We’ve had good success analyzing the systems, evaluating proposed
improvements and then implementing the improvements to achieve real benefits.”
“What I like most about working with Houston Engineering is that they take care of you,” he
explained. “They understand the details and track them. They are conscious of the bottom of
line and keep within the cost proposal. When they work with the city, I know they will get
it done right on time and on budget.”
From time to time, the city does federal aid projects with various entities like the Economic
Development Administration (EDA). “We need to make sure we follow all the federal rules,” said
the client. “I value Houston’s approach to federal projects because they understand the
government system. I like consultants who understand all the rules and take care of all the red
tape. I really appreciate that. Plus they are willing to meet deadlines within a short time frame.
They are really good people to work with.”
