Olaf Anderson & Son Construction Co. is a design/build firm that specializes in commercial
development. They have an in-house architect and construction department, and they subcontract
services for civil engineering, construction staking, electrical, and mechanical. Houston
Engineering has completed a variety of projects with Olaf Anderson during the last several
years. These projects range from small building and parking lot expansions to very large new
commercial projects.
As the civil design consultant, Houston has provided topographic and legal survey, drainage
design (including detention pond design), utility design, and construction staking services
for several projects for buildings ranging from 10,000 square feet to 10 acres. Examples
in Fargo include:
- Syverson Tile Inc., Goodin Co., Cobra Hose Inc., and Fargo Automation—all located
in a row on four lots on 34th Street north of 7th Avenue North.
- Integrity Windows and Doors, Tecton Products, Stone Container, Cardinal Glass, and
Guardian Building Products—all located in the Fargo Industrial Park along 45th Street North.
Cardinal Glass is presently completing its fourth building expansion and will now cover more
than 10 acres under one roof. Integrity Windows and Doors doubled its size after Houston
Engineering completed the work necessary to move an existing wetland. The relocated wetland
is now used as a partial detention pond to ensure good habitat.
Houston has also completed projects for Olaf Anderson in Moorhead and Detroit Lakes (Minnesota),
including the new L&M Fleet Supply Store in Detroit Lakes.
