Caring for the Red River Valley through Cutting Edge Technology
Houston Engineering is assisting Garrison Diversion Conservancy District in
Carrington, North Dakota, in writing an environmental impact statement. “By
putting together the alternatives, the best way to meet the Red River valley
water needs can be determined,” said Kip Kovar, an engineer with the district.
“The engineering work spans the spectrum from sizing pipes to setting up
alignments and determining water flow.”
Because the firm’s work with the Conservancy District covers a wide variety of
projects, they apply almost every kind of engineering technology available.
“Houston Engineering is on the cutting edge of the Geographic Information System
(GIS) world,” said Kovar. “Using GPS equipment is new to many government agencies
like ours, GIS makes it easy to store and show data geographically. Along with the
technology, I also appreciate the staff members. They are very personal and
professional, and can talk to them about anything.”
Great technology and staff allows Houston Engineering to be a positive influence.
“When Houston Engineering designs a project, they are always looking not only at the
people but also at the environment,” said Kip Kovar. “They consider the whole ecology
—from flowers and grasses to animals.”
